The Structured Cabling Course allows technicians to obtain the structured cabling endorsement on their Open Registration. It is designed for technicians who wish to install structured cabling in commercial buildings for high speed data networks including Category 5, 6 and 7 rated installations. This course is also suitable for security technicians who install structured cable for security camera, access control or alarm systems.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING to your Structured cabling course

  • Proof of identity to show your instructor – this can be either a current driver’s licence, passport or company photo ID
  • Enclosed shoes or safety boots
  • Appropriate work attire – long sleeve shirt and pants
  • Safety glasses



We recommend that learners also complete the Open Cabler Registration course. Upon successful completion of both the Open Cabler Registration and Structured Cabling courses, learners may be eligible to apply for the mandatory specialist competency (previously known as endorsement) required to undertake Structured Cabling work.

Online & blended delivery

The Structured Cabling Course can be completed as either a two (2) day classroom based training program or via a blended delivery option comprising one (1) day of classroom based training and eight (8) online modules (that must be completed prior to attending the classroom based component).

It is important to note that the blended delivery option is only suitable to those already exposed to the telecommunications industry as it utilises industry specific concepts and terminology.

If you chose the blended delivery option, you will need to complete the online modules before contacting JB Hunter to book your classroom training.
