The Open Cabler Registration course is a great entry point for people wishing to work in the telecommunications industry. This course covers the ACMA Open Rule, as mandated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

An Open Cabler Registration enables telecommunications workers to legally install and maintain telephone, security* and fire alarm cabling in all types of customer premises. This course replaces the old AUSTEL & BCL license courses. Technicians installing data, coaxial or fibre optic cable will also require the appropriate endorsement on their registration.

Upon successful completion of this course, individuals who have three hundred sixty (360) hours of authentic telecommunications cabling experience and meet the course prerequisites, will have the skills and knowledge required to apply** for an ACMA Open Cabler Registration.

Please note that JB Hunter also offers an alternative pathway for this course in which you can complete your prerequisites online and attend a face to face workshop for 3 days. This version is strictly for people with existing experience in electrical principles. Click here to find more information on this Blended Version.

*Please note that for work in the security industry a separate Security Licence may be required depending on the location (State/Territory) and type of work being conducted.

**Please note, the Open Cabling Registration is issued by any of the five ACMA Approved Registrars and not JB Hunter. Further information on obtaining your Cabling Registration can be found here.
