This online refresher course, approved by Essential Energy,  meets the requirements of the CEOP8030 Essential Energy Electrical Safety Rules (Refresher) course. It applies ESI Safety Rules, Codes of Practice & Procedures for Work on or Near Electrical Apparatus for Essential Energy. It includes the application of relevant NSW safety rules, codes of practice and enterprise-based procedures and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions.

The Electrical Safety Rules govern Essential Energy’s work practices to ensure all employees or persons, including visitors and contractors, comply with Essential Energy’s safety policies and procedures. A safe workplace is everyone’s responsibility. This refresher course is intended to complement your own experience and knowledge of working safely around electricity.

What you need to have for your online ESI Safety Rules course

  • A desktop or laptop computer with a current browser (we recommend Chrome) or equivalent, Tablet or iPad
  • Students must have the ability to perform fundamental tasks on their computer or Tablet. This includes understanding certain software, applications, programs and tools e.g., Microsoft applications, Adobe Acrobat Reader, internet search engines

 

This course is suitable for the following workers and industries

CEOP8030 Essential Energy Electrical Safety Rules (Refresher) apply to all persons, employees, contractors and Accredited Service Providers working on or near high voltage and low voltage electrical apparatus associated with Essential Energy’s electricity network.

This course applies to Telecommunications Network Engineering field staff including technicians and their technical supervisors working for the network provider, delivery partner, third party contractors or other service providers who carry out domestic, commercial or industrial installations in indoor and outdoor environments.

This is a self-paced online course with an online assessment. The assessment references the CEOP8030 – Electrical Safety Rules. The Electrical Safety Rules document is in the assessment. The assessment is designed to work through the relevant sections of the Rules. Students are required to read each question, locate the right section within the Rules, and select the correct answer in the assessment. Allow approximately 120 minutes to complete your online assessment.


 

Prerequisites

Prerequisites: must have completed the Essential Energy Electrical Safety Rules CEOP8030 (initial). Only students who have completed their initial or refresher training within 3 years the of course date are eligible to attend a refresher course.

  • Prepare to apply ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus)
  • Carry out the application of ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus
  • Complete the application of ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus.

This course will also cover

  • Other Relevant safety rules, codes of practice and procedures are identified and obtained
    Hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions/areas are identified and obtained
  • The requirement for access authority/work permits required for work are identified and obtained from appropriate personnel according to established procedures
  • Safety systems and equipment for work are prepared and placed to minimise and control hazards in accordance with established procedures
  • Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed
  • Safety rules, codes of practice and workplace procedures for induction to a worksite, are followed
  • Specific workplace systems and equipment isolation procedures are followed
  • Restricted workplace areas are identified, including ingress and egress procedures
  • Processes for completing work are applied, and access authority/work permits, where required, are completed in accordance with established procedures
