ICT30415 – Certificate III in Telecommunications Network Build and Operate is designed to provide the skills and knowledge you will need to build the national broadband network. This qualification which may be undertaken as part of a traineeship/apprenticeship and can be tailored to suit workers constructing the FTTN, FTTC, FTTP or HFC networks. This program is suitable for apprentices and trainees and there may be funding available for learners and employers.

Training is delivered on nbn™ approved equipment using the latest tools and test equipment. Students can select from a variety of elective streams that best suit their work.

Successful participants of the Cert III will be able to upload their qualification to the nbn™ enAble system. This will provide accreditation for task based work on the nbn™. The nbn™ enAble accreditation system is administered by nbn™. JB Hunter is not able to provide specific advice on worker accreditation. nbn™ reserves the right to change accreditation requirements. Please check with your Delivery Partner for appropriate unit selection.

This course can run over a twelve (12) – thirty six (36) month period depending on the students needs and location.
**A deposit of $1500.00 will be required prior to course commencement. Payment plan options available.

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites for this program. Students with a colour vision deficiency should consult our enrolment advisors as some units may not be suitable.

Certification

Upon successful completion of this training program, you will awarded the following qualification:

Unit Selection

To successfully obtain this qualification, students must complete the mandatory core units plus a selection of nine (9) elective units.The nine(9) elective units should be selected to align with their work based activities. Elective units can only be completed as a group within their stream.

  • BSBSUS401 – Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
  • ICTWHS204 – Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures
  • ICTTEN201 – Use electrical skills in telecommunications work
  • ICTTEN202 – Use hand and power tools

A Total of 9 Units must be completed from the following streams:


Copper Jointer Stream – Elective

  • ICTCBL320 – Jumper metallic conductor cable in the access network
  • ICTCBL215 – Joint metallic conductor cable in access network
  • ICTCBL317 – Cut over metallic conductor cable in the access network
  • ICTTEN302 – Install telecommunications network equipment
  • ICTTEN303 – Locate, identify and rectify recurrent network faults

Complex Copper Jointing (Large Cables) Stream – Elective

  • ICTCBL318 – Install and cut over metallic conductor cable to access network cabinet
  • ICTCBL319 – Rearrange large size copper cable

Pit, Pipe & Hauling – Elective

  • ICTCBL307 – Install underground enclosures and conduit
  • ICTCBL308 – Install underground cable

Fibre Optic Jointing – Elective

  • ICTTEN311 – Inspect, clean and handle optical fibre cable and connectors
  • ICTCBL208 – Splice and terminate optical fibre cable for carrier and service providers
  • ICTBWN302 – Install optical fibre splitters in fibre distribution hubs
  • ICTBWN304 – Work safely with live fibre to test and commission a fibre to the x installation
  • ICTCBL316 – Install ribbon fibre cable in the FTTX distribution network
  • ICTBWN305 – Use optical and radio frequency measuring instruments

HFC Technician – Elective

  • ICTCBL303 – Install and terminate coaxial cable
  • ICTCBL310 – Install aerial cable
  • ICTBWN305 – Use optical and radio frequency measuring instruments
  • ICTTEN302 – Install telecommunications network equipment

Open Registration – Elective

  • ICTCBL236 – Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule
  • ICTCBL237 – Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule Follow
  • ICTTEN201 – Use electrical skills in telecommunications work
  • ICTTEN202 – Use hand and power tools

Course cancellations and changes

JB Hunter reserves the right to cancel, postpone or alter the dates and/or times of any course. Trading terms seven (7) days. Any debt collection fees incurred will be added to the balance of the account.
Transfer & cancellation fees apply.
Only one transfer allowed per booking.

Cancellation Fees

On confirmed receipt of written notice from the client:

  • 11+ business days prior to course commencement – cancellation fee 10%, transfer fee 5%
  • 6-10 business days prior to course commencement – cancellation fee 25%, transfer fee 12.5%
  • 3-5 business days prior to course commencement – cancellation Fee 50%, transfer fee 25%
  • 0-2 business days prior to course commencement OR non-attendance – cancellation fee 100%, no transfers
  • Cancellation after being granted a previous transfer – minimum cancellation fee 25%

 

Transfer and cancellation fees are based on the full standard course price – any discounts or subsidies offered will no longer apply.
