$600.00 (GST Exempt)

This Fibre Testing course is intended for contractors required to test and fault find optical fibre networks. It also covers basic fibre safety and handling, recognising cable and connector types as well as the inspection and cleaning of fibre connectors.

*Please note that the ICTWHS204 – Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures unit must be completed online at least five (5) days prior to attending the course.

NBN ACCREDITED SKILLS INCLUDED

  • nbn Skill 12 – Testing and commissioning live fibre;
  • nbn Skill 9 – Fibre inspection and cleaning

What Do I Take to My Fibre Testing Course?

  • Proof of identity to show your instructor – this can be either a current driver’s licence, passport or company photo ID
  • Enclosed shoes or safety boots
  • Appropriate work attire
  • Safety glasses
  • A laptop to class to access learning resources
Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for the fibre testing course, however it is recommended that students have an understanding of,  and experience with fibre splicing principles.

Certification

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive statements of attainment for the following nationally-accredited units of competency:

  • ICTBWN307 – Use optical measuring instruments
  • ICTBWN308 – Work safely on live optical fibre installations
  • ICTWHS204 – Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures
  • ICTTEN318 – Inspect, clean and handle optical fibre cable and connectors
