BSA Power Awareness Training (Victoria Only)

This course is for telecommunications workers who have previously completed a Health, Safety and Environment training program. The content is designed to deliver the ‘best practices’, to assist the telecommunication industry workforces when working in a deregulated carrier network.

This program is delivered as a face to face learning solution. This training program is delivered in as an eight (8) hour face to face  classroom based session where you will undergo a range of practical assessments. Both the knowledge and practical assessments need to be successfully completed to be deemed competent.

Before the commencement of this program, the learner is expected to have achieved the fundamental understanding of all topics. To be eligible for this program, you will have needed to have successfully completed a HSE Program in the past.

This course includes the following non-accredited JBH modules:

JBHT-01VSTC– VESI Safe to climb
JBHT-01WWL – Working with ladders
JBHT-01WAP – Working at poles

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING to your HSE course?

  • Proof of identity to show your instructor – this can be either a current driver’s licence, passport or company photo ID
  • Safety boots with a defined heel
  • Appropriate Hi Vis work attire – long sleeve shirt and pants
  • Safety glasses
  • Helmet
  • Gas detectors
  • Harness and pole strap
  • Laptop (please ensure Adobe Reader is installed)
Prerequisites

HSE – HSE Three Yearly Initial Program or equivalent

Upon successful completion of this training program, you will be awarded the following nationally accredited unit(s) of competency:

Course information

The BSA Power Awareness program covers the following key areas:

  • Skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines
  • The provision of first aid in an Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) environment. It includes the recognition and provision of an initial response and application, where first aid is required in emergency situations
  • Pole top rescue emergency procedures as required in the work place. It specifies the mandatory requirements for a rescue of a telecommunications person from a pole top area
  • Working safely near power infrastructure

This course is suitable for Victorian workers only.

Further training may be required by the electricity supply authority in your jurisdiction. Please contact your employer/delivery partner if you have any questions about your HSE requirements before enrolling in this course.
