South Australia (SA) STL Qualifications Funding

The South Australian (SA) Government invests in vocational education and training (VET) qualifications targeted to support the state’s economic priorities, and training and employment needs. The government pays subsidies to training providers to help individuals earn these in-demand qualifications at an affordable rate.

JB Hunter has a Funded Activities Agreement with the Department for Innovation and Skills (DIS), with approval to deliver accredited training that is published on the Subsidised Training List (STL). JB Hunter is approved to deliver the following qualification:

ICT30519 – Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology

Students wishing to enrol into this funded training will need to have their eligibility, suitability and an upfront assessment of need assessed prior to enrolment.

Eligibility For STL Qualifications Funding:

To be eligible for a SA training contract under the Funded Activities training program, you must:

  • Reside or work in South Australia, and
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or
  • Be a permanent Australian resident or
  • Hold a State sponsored visa on a pathway to permanent residency or
  • Hold a humanitarian temporary visa of a class specified by the Minister from time to time and
  • Be aged 16 years or over and not enrolled in school or
  • Be aged 16 years or over, enrolled in school and undertaking training through identified subsidised arrangements or
  • Be undertaking training through a Training Contract as an apprentice or trainee

Costs

A participant fee of 50c per nominal hour applies (eg: 720 hrs x 50c = $360.00 est only). However course fee concessions and exemptions are offered to those who meet certain criteria. Please refer to the SA Fees and Charges Policy for more information.

JobTrainer Fund

As part of its economic response to COVID-19, the Australian Government is also now providing low fee training to eligible participants. So in addition, those who enrol during the JobTrainer Enrolment Period of 15th October 2020 to 30 September 2021 (or such earlier time as notified by the Minister), will be offered low fee training if they:

  • Are not employed and not enrolled in a secondary school or
  • Are aged 16 to 24 years and are not enrolled in school or
  • Are a prisoner in a South Australian correctional institution

Concessions and low fee training is calculated at 25 cents per nominal hour. A typical Certificate III in Telecommunications would be calculated at:

$0.25 x 700 = $175.00 (based on 25 cents x 700 nominal hours)

(Note: the exact number of nominal hours will vary based on the electives selected)

Duration

The duration of training varies however training is typically completed between 12 months and 36 months.
