Online Open Registration - ICTTC136C, ICTTC137C
Completion of this training, along with relevant experience, qualifies the student for ACMA Open Cabler Registration (previously known as ACA Open Registration or Austel Licence). Open Cabler Registration enables you to legally install and maintain telephone, data, security* and fire alarm cabling in all types of customers premises.
Online Open Registration consists of two parts:
a) 16 Online Modules.
b) 2 days that includes a written examination and practical component to determine your competency at a JB Hunter Technology venue. (There may be an instance where you will join a scheduled public course, to complete your examination and practical assessment tasks).

At the end of Open Cabler Registration the student will be able to:
- Describe and interpret the requirements of the ACA AS/ACIF S009 Wiring Rules.
- Be able to describe and design additions to a telephone cabling system.
- Correctly install and terminate telecommunications cable for a backbone and facility cabling system including a full cabling polarity and continuity test.
- Understand the technical requirements of a Telecommunications Reference Conductor (TRC) system.
- Understand the requirements of the CES earthing system including equipotential bonding.
- Conduct an Earthing system series resistance and insulation resistance test.
- Understand the features offered by a small business telephone system or CSS.
- Detail the requirements of the ACMA Cabling Provider Rules.
Pre-requisites:
- Recognised OH&S training relevant to building cabling activities. Examples include State WorkCover/WorkSafe issued OH&S construction induction cards; OH&S subjects studied at TAFE as part of building or electrical trades. If you do not have the OHS pre-requisite please enrol and complete the online competency ICTTC170A Follow OHS and environmental policy and procedures prior to enrolling in the cabling registration course.
- Students should have prior relevant building cabling experience, including the use of hand and power tools. If you do not meet the experience requirements, you may be assessed as 'Not Yet Competent' and will need to gain relevant experience and be re-assessed at a later date.

You are able to complete the course without meeting the pre-requisites, but will be issued with a Letter of Attendance rather than a Certificate. If you do not meet the ACMA experience requirements, you will be assessed as 'Not Yet Competent' and will need to gain relevant experience as outlined above and be re-assessed at a later date.
Awards: National Competency Standards will be issued on successful completion of the online theory component and practical assessment.
Upon successful completion of the online theory and practical component, you will be issued with the following:
• ICTTC136C – Install maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule; and
• ICTTC137C – Install maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule.
*Please note that a separate Security Licence may be required depending on the location (State) and type of work being conducted.
If you are a resident of ACT, WA, QLD you may be eligible for a subsidy on successful completion of the above competencies. This means that you will have passed the online, face to face examination and practical skills assessments of this course.
Subject to approval we will assist you with lodging the relevant paperwork, and issue you with a rebate of the subsidy amount.
