Completion of this training qualifies the student for ACMA Restricted Cabler Registration.
As defined in Cabling Provider Rules, Restricted cabling work:
- Can only be performed in relation to a customer’s premises in which the electrical supply voltage is no greater than 240V AC single-phase or 415V AC three-phase;
- Is connected to customer equipment that complies with the Act, and the requirements of the Labelling Notice;
- Is the installation and maintenance of customer cabling that terminates directly onto a defined network boundary, either a socket or network termination device (NTD).
A typical example of where Restricted Cabler Registration may be sufficient is a single or multi-storey domestic dwelling where a standard telephone service, security* and fire alarm cabling terminates directly at the network boundary on a socket or network termination device (NTD).
Restricted work DOES NOT include any cabling work connecting to a distributor or a patch panel.
Exemption: In premises where incoming carriers lines are terminated on a distributor or patch panel, Restricted Cablers are only permitted to perform cabling work connected behind compliant customer equipment, for example, connecting sensors & detectors to a compliant alarm panel*.
