DD102 -Designing telecommunications distribution systems
BICSI Authorised Design Training Provider, JB Hunter, in conjunction with BICSI South Pacific, present the DD102 training course. DD102 BICSI RCCD training is an intensive, hands-on, instructor led 5-day course focused on the design of ICT infrastructure. This knowledge-intensive course instructs you in real-world tasks, preparing you for design roles in the workplace. The course is the ideal preparation for those looking to undertake the RCDD exam. It is also a proven means to get more familiar with BICSI’s award-winning Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM), the essential guide to best practice in ICT infrastructure.
Through the use of case studies, schematic and construction drawings, and real-life scenarios, you will learn to design standards-compliant telecommunications infrastructure, beginning where the cabling enters the building to any telecommunications environment within the building. In addition to structured cabling, all facets of design for the support infrastructure, including telecommunications spaces, pathways, bonding and grounding, and firestopping are included in the course. DD102 has been structured to maximise your take-away from the class. Students work together to complete a final group project, allowing immediate use of new knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.

Preparation for training
The DD102 course is designed for those who have a minimum of two years experience in the design and specifications of cabling infrastructure systems. If you do not meet these requirements, BICSI strongly recommends that you complete the DD101:Foundations of Telecommunications Distribution Design course prior to enrolling in DD102.
Who should attend
- ICT designers with at least two years of on- the-job experience in telecommunications cabling systems
- Professionals responsible for designing IP-enabled building systems (e.g., security, AV, HVAC)
- Individuals preparing to take the RCDD exam
- Individuals looking for a review of telecommunications distribution systems
Students must bring the TDMM (13th edition), print or electronic,to class. The manual (not included in the course fee) can be ordered at bicsi.org/publications. Students are also required to bring a laptop computer or tablet to class each day.
What do I need to do now?
- Enrol in the DD102 course by emailing email@example.com
- Obtain a copy of the TDMM from bicsi.org/bookstore
- Download a copy of the RCDD application form if you wish to work towards the RCDD credential. The form can be found at bicsi.org/rcdd.
The course will be confirmed 30 days from the scheduled start date on receipt of at least 6 enrolments with paid deposits. If any date changes or course cancellations are initiated by JB Hunter, deposits will be fully refundable.
Deposits are fully refundable up to 30 days from the scheduled course commencement date. Cancellations made by students within 30 days of the scheduled course commencement will forfeit the deposit.
There are no pre-requisites to attend the training program, however JB Hunter suggests participants with minimal exposure to telecommunications design undertake “DD101 Foundations of Telecommunications Distribution Design”, a web based course from BICSI Connect, before attending the DD102.
